Hi..
I’m Oblivion Knight from vb.org – kudos to you nexia for standing up for yourself.
Great fan of your work, and shall eventually get around to subscribing.
Regards.
Hello everybody
Hi just found you through my Spiders Bundle product.
Sorry to see you got Deleted over there Nexia, your mods are cool.
Soft yellow Emoticons (W.I.P)
These emoticons (preview below) were started due to a member asking if there were similiar emoticons (animated) around to the ones he was using already to expand upon. I liked the theme of these emoticons and decided ro embark on a mini-project (this pack will consist of 50+ emoticons) with addon packs released in the future.
For the now, the previews below are in the w.i.p phase and although some of them looked to be duplicates they aren’t. Some have animation flaws which I corrected in later variations which you’ll notice (or maybe not if you haven’t got a keen eye) and I was looking for some feedback, suggestions and some constructive criticism.
Thankyou.

For those interested on the construction side and the layers used I posted a screenshot of the psd count (which is low by my standards) and the animation count. As you can see these emoticons are fully vectored (bar the brush layer which soon will be vectored because I like to be consistent.
Thumbs on Threadbits per forum
Will display thumbnails of last image attached in a thread, per forum. based on Jason’s work.
After importing the product, Go in your AdminCP >> vBulletin Options >> Forum Display Options (forumdisplay)
in the bottom of the page, you see:
Nexia’s Thumbs on Threadbits – FORUMIDS
Nexia’s Thumbs on Threadbits – ORDER
… pretty self explanatory, isn’t it?
and the result look like this:
what about a Administration Council and a real community
the question is on the table… so you can tap on… rofl
more coders are joining to talk about the site, so why not join and build a real group?
How free can be free stuff?
actually, this site is subscription based. people have to pay a minimal 10$ fee to access the features like download of freely available stuff and asking for support/requests.
this subscription is not ther eto pay for the releases but to pay the hosting, software etc… this is minimal, people do not understand how it cost to have such a site with thousands of hits per hour… (actually more than 25000 hits per day)
anyway, i was questioning myself at giving a Freebies section with free stuff for registered users, the ones who do not pay for the access. this spring, i had the site subscription-free, no payment needed, and there not that much downloaders anyway.. there is more downloaders now that the site is paid, so go figure…
people always whine when they have to pay, these leechers i do not care. what is important is to have coders and designers like you being respected for their work and retributed when it was obvious the work worth it. That being said, i decided to drop the subscription for coders willing to release their work here. I had a fight with the sponsor — which left after the fight — and i decided to review all the subscriptions… now there is only one.
but i’d like to debate the paid logic with the Acolytes, the ones who are to release stuff on the site… what are your thoughts about how it have to work?
there will be a « releases system » soon by the hand of Drew, a commercial script that let you have your own releases paid or free on the site, with a licenses tracker for your own stuff… and it will be way more productive and efficient than anyother systems, even the one from Jelsoft or aMember… so i suppose that your suggestions will help us release a better engine — each request could be an option, not hardcoded… 🙂
so yes, what do you think of the free stuff vs subscriptions?
How the Keys gives you access to the Forums
After about 2 weeks of evaluation and restructuration on the permissions and access to the forum, here is the final draft of what we think is the best on vbE.
First, the entire site is visible to guests and Registered Users, but most of the forum’s participation require a Member Key. Remember that this site is commercial, that means it’s not a fan site for free distribution of everything. Do not even complaint about the cost to access the downloadable content, you always have the possibility to go to vb.org.
There is actually 2 keys available for the registered members here:
The Member Key, which validate your access on the site. With this key, you have access to everything that indicated as freely available. There is not that much because this site is dedicated to commercial products, but we have a wide range of freebies and take-over that we leave for free, like the iTrader 2.5.
The Acolyte Key, which is not reachable by subscription, is a key delivered by the admins to any contributor that is evaluated as safe and in which we have confidence in. These Acolytes can release their work in the Showroom and the Tutorials, and they can advertise their commercial site/products in their signatures.
There is a third key that is called ‘Accomplice‘… these are the most trustworthy members we have on this site. They are well known coders, good councelors and efficient consultants. Their role on the site is obscur, they are here mostly as spectators, they participate in the administration and make me spend all my time on debates and long term evaluations.
As a note, here is a description of the situation in privileges given on the forums. The main 3 categories on the forum are containing specific forums that fits for the usergroups permissions to be simplier, and they goes like this:
The Day to Day Coffeeshop:
Registered User is the only requirement to access this publicly open forum, so everybody can access and chat.
The Coders Shack:
Member Key is required to create new threads, for replying others.
The Enhancements:
Member Key is required to participate, for replying threads, downloading free products.
Acolyte Key is required to create new threads and release own free products.
… more details will come when we finish fixing permissions and usergroups for the guys here that were already participating on the forum… please be patient, i’m on the site like 2 hours per day lately, having to deal with the kids, the wife’s new job and some external contracts here and there… 😉

Do you want to get rid of the + or the * in front of the usernames in who’s online and logged-in users in different places on the forum?
This small product is doing it for you…

and the result looks like this:

As usual, it’s a simple product import, no template or file edit…
AAAAARRRGGGHHH… i’m going crazy with subscriptions
We need something better, less complicated and more efficient…
actually IPB’s permissions system is better… isn’t it ?!
I’m going to trash it all and start over in the next minutes… the only thing that will remain is the 10$ Member Key to have access to the site system… All other ranks will be given to anybody who’s showing the need to have it.
The reason why it is complicated right now is that we are planning a Releases engine with licenses and ownerships, but in the meanwhile, i wanted to have a replacement for accessing the releases part of the site. That’s crap with the actual permissions… usergroups over usergroups, we would have like 50 subscriptions next week.
As i just have members that subscribed to the Member Key and noother, it’s easy to drop everything and start over the permissions… but it will take my afternoon making everything like before, and John Doe is not helping…*(one day i will copy/paste his real name in Chinese)…
Now everybody purchasing the Member Key will have access to the forum and all the sections like officially licensed etc. there will be only two types of users on the site, the registered and the members… registered are just lurkers, and the « members » are the ones who have dedication to the site.
😉
