You see my markup?

How did i attach an umbrella beside my name, is a mystery for many of you who are interested to make their membernames unique.

But it’s quite simple when you play a little with CSS elements.

First, instead of placing all the code in your Usergroup HTML Markup, you make it easier to edit and lighter for the browser by making your markups small and quick. Write is the same way as i did, creating a new class for the style.

Remember that this detail is found when you edit your usergroups… this example is the admins one.

Then you go to your Style Manager, and edit the Main CSS of your prefered style… you go to the bottom of the page, in the « Additional CSS Definitions » and put the new class style in the SECOND field (the first one is overwritten by most of the products you can play with).

the example of my own class looks like this:
.ug_admin {
font-family: « Lucida Grande », sans-serif;
font-weight: bold;
color: #800080;
background-image: url(style/umbrella.png);
background-repeat: no-repeat;
padding-left: 13px;
}
example explained:

1- i changed the family of the font to have a more ergonomical one, Lucida is great
2- made the font in bold
3- changed the color for magenta
4- to make the umbrella show everywhere, i make it the background-image, no repeat
5- i add some padding to the left so the background image is without text over it

See, it’s easy. but to learn about the CSS elements is more complicated than that, and you can have a need for a tutorial… here is a great link: CSS Tutorial

have some fun designing your usergroups!

Need to get rid of « Buddy + »

Hi there!

I was able to get rid of that ugly buddy +.
But there is one location I can´t reach. Maybe someone can help me here. 🙂

In Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread.
In SHOWTHREAD template I found « $activeusers », but where/how can I fix it and get the « + » out of there? Anywhere I can edit « $activeusers »?

Sorry for that kinda newbie question, but I dont get it. lol ;p

//edit
I could edit vbulltin files, but any other ways?

if i use vbMA right now…

will it be possible to import everything in your MTF Releases engine once available, Drew?

because i absolutely need a real engine for the releases… people have to subscribe for a license, and then they can purchase something…

what i need for this site:

1- guests/registered have no access to downloads
2- to have access to downloads, everybody have to pay the 10$ activation fee, which give a license id
3- free stuff is not tracked, « who downloaded » hack is handling it right now.
4- people pay the price of a release to have access to it.
5- people pay the price to have access to support.
5B- this can be done via a monthly fee OR credits per post in the support thread.

… i suppose i will have things to fix before making it solid-gold, so if you have ideas … it’s time!

new mission to recode all of vB hacks…

it may look impolite, but it is actually… i think that we need a serious rehearsal of everything we find on vb.org, recoded with a serious protocol (the vB one) and with the goal to release only useful stuff…

if you want to join the venture, just join and release what you think worth releasing… no leeching, i want everybody to get involved seriously in this, so we do not leech the vb.org content.

you find an idea, a useful one, and you code an engine that will do it. if the tool do not require support because it is simple, we can release it as a freebie… otherway it will be a paid product.

the reason behind this?… most of the gadgets released on vb.org are pointless… i want to grab the good stuff here, but as most of these coders are not to be invited here because they worth nothing, i’d like to have real coders release real tools… ideas are taken away by Jelsoft anyway (we call this copyright infrigement), so why not us.. 🙂

an amazing drop of posts, users and forum content…

in the last minutes, i dropped the trachbeen.. (yeah, trashbin)

it was containing a lot of threads (like 15 000) created by ico-content on test, and some other rss feeds that were pointless on this site. i also dropped more than 5000 useless users which were related to these threads.

so the site will be lightier, faster maybe, but also easier to backup.. lol

it may not change a thing about your life on the site, but for the few who were checking for our stats, they are true, we have few users, few threads, and basically no life on this site… it’s my code repository after all, not a off-topic place!

but you are welcome anyway!

Downloads will be back on tuesday

As announced last week, i’m rebuilding the way everything is shared and distributed on this site, based on the clients and members suggestions, but also because the site is merging with a new chain of command.

There will be a lifetime subscription to access the downloads on vbE now. The cost is raised at 10$us, and will give free access to all public freebies, as well as being able to have forum-based support for these freebies.

Other details and changes on the site will be announced soon, but as you can see already, there was some moves in the distros and we added some new forums… there will be more in the coming days.

Regrouping to have a louder voice

I think that we need to regroup to be able to voice ourselves in front of Jelsoft/IB, because for now, the small coders/developers are not heared, because there is too much noise at Jelsoft… the office must be clustered with moving boxes from Floris and the others… 😉

So this consortium is a good way to bring voice to the general coders of the community, because vb.org failed miserablely in that task — even if it is its primary goal.

The means are moderate, we need someone with verve, someone with a great language, to represent the weight of coders that we are. If i was able to make my account deleted on vb.org, imagine what someone with a more ellaborate english can do… lol

It’s not always because we want things to change, sometimes it is also to give our positive feedback on a project. Actually, Jelsoft is positionned in an attacking mode because of all the comments are in the wrong way, they lack a good PR person, and when answers are coming, their are so slow to arise that the trouble-makers like me already made the noise… we need something different from the coders side or things.

btw, i prefer to talk about enhancers, not coders — we are not writing the core, we enhance it…
