What’s up with vBulletin future

You’re working with the vBulletin codes, and you are planning new products for the next weeks, months… and what with vB 4.0?

Personally, as announced in a lot of occasions, i don’t plan to work with the new 4.0 generation of vB, because i already have a lot to do with the 3.x generation and i have too much invested in that generation to let it go because of a new version.

So what do i plan, personally?… continue to offer support to the 3.x version, releasing more of the products i have in the backstore, so my clients will prefer to stick with their 3.x version instead of switching.

This is not a big movement of the masses, but i suppose that 100 or 200 clients willing to use my tools for the next years will be enough for me to sustain with the actual program.

What about you?… who started to play with the 4.0?… even if there is an NDA, i know that some vB coders already have the beta in hands… what do you think of the previews?

News Cast for Forumhome

A News Caster which grab the latest threads in forum X, listing them on Forumhome page, just below the navbar.

This was very popular for InvisionBoard since the begining, and as there is none on vB, as i needed one, i coded one… 🙂

Here are the settings, in: AdminCP >> vBulletin Options >> Nexia’s Forumhome Newscast Settings

nex_news_forumhome_options.jpg

This engine will list all the latests threads, based on which forumid you put in the list. It generate only a single additional query on forumhome to grab the news, it have a simple display you can modify at will from the templates.

Here is the result:

nex_news_forumhome_demo.jpg

the engine is without template or file or database edits, just import this product file.

note: on june 30th 2009, i added a missing setting to enable the display of the thread status icon… it was configured in the engine but not active… sorry! version 1.0.1
note: on december 30th 2009, version 1.5.0, added BBCode Parsing in the settings so you can show images/links or not.

The notice says it all…

as you may have been forced to notice, there is now some real changes on the site… i can’t tell more right now because there are negociations on route, and i can not say more.

as many of you may have noticed, my account at vbulletin.org is now deleted completely, first time on the vb.org history… i wanted to be sure there was no other possibility to trace me on that site, based on the fact that i’m now seriously « persona non grata » there…

i announced earlier this week that i was to close the business and retire from coding vB… due majorly because i had no real interest in coding for the new platform to come, the 4.0 version of vB… but i had some incomes from a company *(old client of mine) that was interested to see my work continued until « they » decide to switch to 4.0, which would mean at least 18 months, because they have major sites running vB, and they can not afford such a change without a solid version, etc etc…

i was also invited by a lot of members here to continue anyway and offer more of my products, even if they were to be paid stuff… that is something to evaluate!

anyway, there are changes in the house, not the style but in the mood and the goals. we’ll see in the next hours how all this is going.

–nexia!

Downloads deactivated for a moment…

Not that i want to stop the distribution of the material here, but as my account on vb.org was deleted completely and my stuff pushed to the graveyard for good, the only thing i can do right now is make people aware of the situation.

Decisions have to be made on this site, regarding coding and distribution of products for vBulletin. I was offered to sustain my service here because of possible commercial deal or paid support. Not sure… i was joined by many in the last hours, people willing to support, interested in the development of my stuff etc…

My intentions right now are to sell the site to someone who will be interested to continue the work, so i can retire and take care of my family… i also have hit the wall where nobody else ever was, regarding the confrontation i had with the guys at vb.org and Ray Morgan who decided to accept my withdraw of the community… now i’m an outlaw for Jelsoft and IB.

I’m sure that in Morgan’s head, the only thought he had in the last days was « who’s that moron? » … and in Paul’s head, the same kind of thing… « when this moron will abandon? »…

what do you think?… lol

As per now, Drew, at SiteMart.us is now owner of the MTF engine

As a proof of reliability, we’re continuing the development of the master engine called Multi-Types Forum, the MTF.

[user]Drew[/user] was the one developing the core engine of the MTF as well as its exclusive Releases engine which was planned to be released in the next weeks, and as he is interested to continue the legacy, vbEnhancer.com and Nexialys.net are giving him the entire ownership of the script and project.

Drew plan to release the engine soon, and you will be informed of this on this site until it close, and the official url is: SiteSmart

Good Luck Drew!

Ray Morgan prefer Paul M’s attitude, thanks for it

Ray Morgan, everybody knows him now, is the new leader of IB coming to manage Jelsoft’s vBulletin.

no problem for me, but he just replied to my complaint against Paul M regarding the ban… the only thing he said was that his company wants polite and respectuous contacts with the clients… ok, so threatenings and bans are polite?

anyway. I summoned him to force Paul M to delete my account with all the threads related to my products on vbulletin.org, and also to deactivate all my licenses on vbulletin.com.

So this site is going to be illegal by the end of the week.

Do i had to calm down and shut it off ?… sure no, why would be a lamb?… in the last 3 years (because i did not calculate in the past), i told all my clients that vBulletin was the best forum software there is… i can count at least 150 of my clients that switched to vBulletin because of my own knowledge of the software, being able to support and code for them.

So now i can not support them anymore, because i am not supported by the company, i’m even considered like a moron.

So be it… sorry people, but even if you are good clients, i can not run that kind of life, being considered as a slave or a lamb.

this domain is now on sale.

the load of bugreports on vb.org is helping us here!

As i released some of my stuff on vb.org, a lot more people reported bugs from these releases, making my work much easier as i will be able to fix everything during the week-end.

we had guinea pigs on vb.org who tested about everything just for the fun of it, but it was not under all possible situations, and features lacking tests were not improved… like search boxes not giving results etc… i’ll be fixing all of the reported problems from vb.org by the week-end, as it is announced to be rainy here!

😉
