Really Ignored Users in Showthread

As requested in this thread: vBulletin Community Forum – View Single Post – Ignore function as you see Wayne’s answer, it is possible to completely ignore any posts from users who are in your ignore list…

Without this product, your postbit for an ignored user will look like this:

nex_postbit_really_ignore.jpg

Installing this product will simply drop this part, which is boring for many. When you ignore someone, you really want it to be ignored, not halfway done.

Wayne suggest to delete the named templates, but i see a problem for moderators and admins… Staff have to see ignored notices, because they are staff who also have to manage ignored users… So my small plugin fix this. It will deactivate these templates when you are not part of staff only.

This is a simple plugin on Showthread, so it will not delete the template, just deactivate it, so you’re safe.

Promotions Logic?

I was working on the promotions manager for the releases engine when i started to think about how to handle multiple promotions affecting the same threads. And my question was do you think the manager should stop you from adding promotions that affect the same forum? Or something else?

Show Customized Options in adminCP

Requested here: https://unpapapro.com/help-me-please/show-updated-settings/5116/ from Taragon.

you can see the orange indicator right to the setting title, it indicate that the setting is using a different value than the original one.

This can not be done without a file edit, so you are warned… make a backup of that file before editing it.

The text file attached is the HowTo… save it for further actions, you will need it each time you update vBulletin.

Closed Thread Title Decoration

Closed Thread Title Markup

This simple product will provide a new option via the admincp to add custom text markup to closed thread titles on the FORUMDISPLAY page.

View screenshots to give an example of this, it’s running on my forums.

There are existing modifications available on vbulletin.org that achieve similar results, but they’re a bit « bloated » and « clumsy » for my liking.. They have several options just for the markup, with their own setting group.

This product adds just 2 options and 1 forum permission; a CSS text based option so that you can enter whatever you want for the markup, and an option to disable the markup on sticky threads. Both are added to an already existing setting group « Forum Display Options (forumdisplay) ». The forum permission allows you to use the Closed Thread Markup on a per-forum basis.

This product was re-named to « Closed Thread Title Markup » from 1.0.2 onwards.

User Playlists (Flashwidgetz.com)

User Playlists (Flashwidgetz.com)

This modification provides your users with the opportunity to create and share a playlist of their favourite music, from an external source via flashwidgetz.com.

View screenshots to give an example of this, it’s running on my forums. url=http://www.gamingvoice.co.uk/forums/general-discussion/4-how-integrate-playlist-your-profile.html]Demo[/url

Fed up of listing your favourite artists, bands or tracks via your profile on a social network or forum community, only for others to have no idea what you’re talking about? So was I! Give your users the tools they need to share their music taste with others in an interactive way, so that the music is actually available to listen to!

Better still, it’s done via a forum pop-up (similar to the smilies list) – no more accidentally navigating away from the page mid-song! Clever, yes?

However, it does take a bit of setting up with a custom profile field and manual template edits. I make no apologies for this, I may make an « automated » version in the future – donations would help to motivate me do so.. 😉

Screenshots of each features

This thread will contain all the useful screenshots regarding this package.

First, « Quote Post in pm/email to Poster«

When a user have the permissions to send PM, or send Email, and the poster have the same permissions, a new link appear in the Postbit Popup, like here:

nex_pm_rev_quote_post_popup.jpg

as you can see, the Private Message part is now seperate in the « Contact X » part, this is to help us find the right function. The links only appear when the reader have permission to use them.

Then, as decided in the AdminCP >> vBulletin Options >> Private Messaging Revisited:

nex_pm_rev_quote_post_option.jpg

The result comes that way: Here is a Quoted Post in a PM, with the Thread Title added in the message title:

nex_pm_rev_quote_post_pm_quote.jpg

And here is a Quoted Post in a Email, without the Thread title, with out custom title that you can edit:

nex_pm_rev_quote_post_mail_unquote.jpg

…. That’s it for this feature.

Why it makes it different from the other versions found elsewhere?

  • This one use the existing functions in vBulletin instead of creating new ones, so a smaller footprint.
  • This one verify the permissions of access to the thread/post quoted only once, from the original vBulletin process, making it a smaller code of 6 lines instead of 50.
  • This one mimic the already existing « quote post », instead of creating new permissions and new bloated needs.
  • This one can send the quote to a Email, so you can contact the poster outside the site. — good for moderators!

Again this is a minimal feature, but use the great possibilities of the included functions inside vBulletin. And as usual, no template edit, no code edit…

*caugh* i’ve been in discussion with *caugh*…

I can’t name him, but let’s say i’ve been in discussion with someone important in the market, and i was offered to expand the development of all the products i’ve taken-over from vB.org coders… like iTrader etc…

like a commercial extension of vb.org, like my original plan, to make money from these tools. but now i would be approved.

does it sound interesting?

sure it is… with the salary that goes with it.

i’ll have some echoes on this in the next days.

as a side note, did you register to the Beta cycle for vb 4.0 ?? if not, you can here: vB4 Development Update – vBulletin Community Forum but indicate in your post that you work with me based on THIS site… if you did not have the chance and lost it, i’ll provide you a copy, as you work for me… 🙂
