Ok, you’ve all read the new blog posts on vb.com about how vB 4.0 will be… every coder on vb.org have to fear for their job, because it’s a complete new system, new structure, most of the codes for addons is to be integrated, so all the existing hacks have no more uses in 4.0…

So we need to take advantage of that. not by releasing 4.0 code right now, but by taking all the existing stuff on vb.org and making it ready to be upgraded, by recoding them to the finest PHP possible, using OOP, like Drew’s doing.

as soon as 4.0 beta is on the shelf, we’ll be able to recode everything possible in the new protocol, but before that, we have to take advance with a list of really useful tools… not just template edits or features enhancements, but useful stuff…

lately i was packaging some features into bundled freebies… theWeb Crawlers bundle is a good example, as i merged 3 different products because they were acting on the same feature.

I was planning different bundles, as i’m releasing a bunch of addons in the next days… the problem is that the more bundles i make, the less products we will have in the list, and the harder the bundles are to be supported in the future, because of debugs, upgrades etc. So i’ll do something here, i’ll seperate each of these packed addons, if needed, and re-release them individually.

ok, that have nothing to do with the staff, as we can all release our stuff without the approval of others, but what i’d like is to have is that each coder here have an overview of all the released addons on the site, and give their opinion on the Staff forum, when needed; so if a code is badly written, or if we could enhance it, or make it work different based on suggestions, it would be cool if we work together on that.

So if you haven’t visited the releases, please do so now, and start commenting… 😉

… i want a lexical engine on the site, which will use these tags:

… replacing known terms in $message text, not globally in $output.

terms are not ads, html or other things, they are just  » term = definition « 

minimum footprint, need to be cached, but remember to have multiple dictionaries, like medical, scientific, internet…

i don’t want something like what theVbGeek made with thousands of pages of code… it’s a minimal engine, which str_replace a term with its hovering definition.

in the creation of term in the list, we have:

1- term
2- definition
3- type (abbr,dfn,acronym)

permissions are to be given to:

1- post new definition, create dictionaries
2- manage entries, edit, delete

user preferences to: activate/deactivate replacements… because there is a bunch not interested to learn.. lol

You all know that i’m not posting any free addon to the vb.org since it was proven that Jelsoft was highjacking my codes for the 3.5 release…

But i have plans to release all the freebies to vb.org when vB 4.0ß is announced to be public, in the next weeks if i read the news properly.

I want to make a statement of the possibility our site is giving to the community, and as is, i’ll have the biggest count of vb 3.8 releases on the site… beating all the others by 10x… 😉

we already have 39 releases, i’m adding all of Hambil’s newer versions in the next hours, that would count for 5 or 6 more, and i plan on coding some new features before vb 4.0ß is up, so i suppose we will hit the 50 releases for 3.8…

Happily, this one is compatible with vBulletin 3.5 to 3.9…

What it does is simple… when you use the tag [user] to identify a certain member of the site, its real username with markup will appear. you can even use the option to change its name with this technique:

[ user]1[ /user] will generate the link like this: [user]1[/user]
you can do the same with the username…[ user]nexia[/user ]

and if you want to have a custom text for the link, here we go:

[ user=1]the master of this domain[ /user] will give [user=1]the master of this domain[/user] …

the funny part is that the link will always be generated with the username markup… that’s the goal of this addon…

when you edit a post in wysiwyg, the tag is not parsed, so you can edit it.

note: on wed. august 19th 2009, due to [user]Taragon[/user]’s shrewdness, a bug was discovered, and corrected, when you were using a comma in a username… file updated

First, we have a couple of free core engines, like the MTF… the core itself is free, and we first release a bundle of 3 to 5 addons in it, for a certain cost.

The Startup Bundle is managed on THIS site only, and only vbEnhancer.com can sell it. That’s our deal.

Then we have the specialized addons, which are sold seperately and can be sold on this site, or at the developer’s site… we don’t mind having you sell your own addons on your own site, we just need a link the visitors here can click to see your work.

Everybody here work for themselves. Once the Startup Bundle is purchased, the clients can have a deal with you.

If you decide to release your addons on vbEnhancer.com, you have to make sure you’re supporting your engines, because we would not be happy to support them for you. We have two ways to host your addons:

1- you work here, support your addons directly on the site. remember that when you put a cost to your addons, it include the charge of support.

2- you release your engine here, but split the cost in two, we keep 50% so we support it and handle sales for you. we make sure your addon is supportable before doing so.

IF by a miracle, we have addons to be coded, we first apply a charge price, so you know how much you will be paid if you code it. we are reasonable, but we also know how much time it takes to code the addon, we’re just too occupied to code it ourselves. If you are paid to code a addon, we continue to own it, but if you want to become the owner of that code because you want to support it, sell it etc, we’re not paying you, you just release it here and you receive the profits from its sale.

Hi, is the version 3.3 of event forums mod that you adopted going to be updated soon? I run vb 3.7.X and find this and all older versions do not work for me. By the look of the mod thread on vb.org I guess there are others also. I’d love to know if this is going to be updated? Thanks

i have a need right now, i just see someone post in a thread, and i don’t want that person to post or even enter that thread or forum anymore…

actually i have to make at least 5 clicks to go in the admincp and change that user’s usergroup or permission… 5 clicks is a lifetime, and most of the site admins are low-braincells and don’t even know how to do it…

so i will need something to be immediat and mandatory filtering… in the postbit popup, 2 or 3 choices to force someone to join usergroupX or a « click here to block this member out of the threadid » or « click here to block this member out of the forumid »…. THIS is simple… the bad part will be to code it… rofl
