There’s a plethora of posts in the boards stats, where are they?

Ok, these stats are wrong… hum, no they are right, but…

As this site is about tests, features and commercial tools to enhance your site, the stats are pointless in the way that these posts and users count are related to all these usages…

example, we have a demo of Ico-Content (the old one) in a hidden forum, for demonstration… that forum contains about 1000 threads that are not visible to users, and each of these threads posters are registered in the users database… like 500 users who are virtually related to users on answers.yahoo.com…

But mainly, what makes all these posts and users who are not visible, is that we receive here the archives of old forums we merge with vbEnhancer.com . Each time we take-over the work of a coder who was owner of a website, we add all this website with ImpEx so we can support the old stuff and the users do not have to re-register again and again… (you surely had to go thru this once!)

Oh, and we have RSS Feeds from a range of vBulletin resources, to help people find what they are searching for…

So that explains why we have a high postcount without having a thread to show in many forums.

After the darkness, some light

A lot… ok, may i say A LOT of comments came to me in the last 2 weeks of silence this site had to face… people all around the world (not hard, 4 persons from 4 different countries) are asking me « why ?! »…

The site was closed, and i had no direct plan to re-open it because i had enough of the stupid games some guys are playing with vBulletin… business, coding, hacking, translation, blah blah. i have enough of it.

btw, i had some fight with an anonymous asshole who threatened me with a legal pursuit about some copyright i was supposely breaking/infringing. After some lawyer of my taking action directly about this situation, it was obvious that we were facing a pro-justice hero who thought he was representing « Utilitarianism« … (pushing me in front of a court even without proofs)

The case was unclear, i had to wait for 2 weeks (the time this site was down) to have an end to it, and by that period of time, i was in reflection to see where i was going with vBulletin.

Sure i have enough of this, i have a lot of work to do to make a living of my work, and i can not always fight or debate on what is good or bad… i’ve already given up at vb.org because as you can see in the public forums, what is discussed the most is not enhancements but rules and services… So i was to give up entirely on vBulletin, because i think there is more than just vB in life, we can easily find something more constructive to do on the net than fight.

So i do not give up… for a time, this site will live, and IF things go positively, i’ll keep it running and will provide more work, service and more.

In the next days i’ll use 2 hours of my days to finish updating what is already stored on the site… There is a files repository for hacks that are already commercial, they will be supported. That’s all for now. If there are some interested clients, why not, welcome. But i’m not answering anymore paid requests, because i have no more time to it, UNTIL another coder answer them.

I’m not abandoning here, i’m supporting the site until i can hire some coders to answer paid requests, and i continue updating the hacks that are taken-over here… i’ve done a tremendous job taking over these hacks, i am not abandoning all of that just after i started.

So be it, we’re not closed, we’ll live again – with your help and support.

a dev-key == a forum

when you buy a dev-key, you also buy a forum management… it’s not against vb license, you do not have access because of your purchase, you have access due to your level… it’s a privilege.

you have control over the threads in that forum, you are the only person to be able to post new threads in the main chamber.

each sticky is an announcement, each normal thread is a release. there is no ambiguity,

Happy Halloween and, and…. that’s it!

Ok, it looks like the site is not going anywhere, it’s empty, nobody participate, blah blah blah… the usual so.

Each time a coder start a website for development, everybody think it have to be a real commercial success by the next day… The problem is that the week next to the opening, i was operated in the hand for some cyst that was breaking my hand in part… ya know, the kind of crap that transform into a cancer… So i’m at rest for another 3 weeks.

In the meantime, i was able to consolidate the bank of hacks that will be freely available when the site is really up (in the next days, even if i’m at rest), and the only thing that block me from opening the site commercially is the coding of the new MTF Releases engine… a lot more complex than planned because Gio’ decided to inspire me with some more ideas and i had to apply them before ending the development of the engine.

I did not abandon the site, even if nothing is moving really… i’m just not coding 24/7 like i used to be…

See ya all in a week or two!

Mod Tools Suggestion

I have a suggestion for a product that would be quite useful for moderators when moving threads to a ‘trash bin’.

When a moderator views a thread, there should be a link which automatically moves the thread to the trash bins, in the admincp, there should be an option to add bins, for example if you have a bin that nobody can access too.

Other additions to the script could be an option to send the user a pm, or for there to be a way for users to request the topic be moved back.
