Ok, i’ve been banned from the whole vBulletin.com site… so, what’s next?

what next…humm

just some fun.

i don’t care if Wayne banned me from the site, he hates me since day one of vB, and i give him back very well… he is british, i’m scotish, it’s always the same, always some pathetic reasons why british trash scotish people…

he was searching for a reason to ban me because i was telling the entire truth about the vBulletin structure right now, and he was not happy with that… so he prowled on me all day long to find a post where i was flawed… not complicated, i’m always insulting members on that site.

btw, what’s next… not sure, stupidity drive the world.

i was trying to converse with Ray Morgan lately, looks like Wayne locked down that possibility. looks like the vBulletin license holders will never see a real Calendar or a rebuild of the Social Groups. i posted earlier that it would be a good alternative for these license holders to stick with 3.8 and use my tools as an alternative to pay twice for their 4.0 …

i have enough of these games of personality… looks like my hopes to see vBulletin emerge from the myst are vain… they are not interested to evolve… and i’m not talking about the IB company, they need money so they want the project to evolve… i talk about Jelsoft’s cows. 3 years of debugs only, with not a single useful feature on the roadmap… pathetic and pointless.

so what, where do i go?… i’ll still code the engines that are on the roadmap here, because compared to Jelsoft, i listen to my clients and i try to deliver all that i announce. the only problem right now is my health… i’m not sick, i’m locked in concrete… my arm is in a plaster and it is my most important engine to be able to code… so i can not right now, but in the next weeks i will finish the recovery and i’m sure to be available to finish debugging everything and releasing other tools.

i’m going to release the Calendar Enhancement pack in the next 10 days… not sure when, as i have to rewrite parts of the SocialGroups bundle to be merged with it and i may not work a lot this week as i have the whole family home. next week will be more efficient.

for vBulletin.com, what next?… sorry but i’m not going back there… i have other lambs to whip. they may have reputations as great support staff, but when you do not need support but you need features, they are not so great… i coded my enhancements on my own all the time in the last 8 years… never was listened to, and even i was leeched by the old guys who stole a lot of codes from the guys at vb.org even when they said « oh no, we have no time to go there »… yeah… bullshiters

i’m not angry, i’m just a free mind, so i talk like that, read my avatar!

i’m building a site this week, for my daughter’s sync-swim club… i need a solid script for all the stuff we put in. vBulletin answer 10% of our needs, and with my addons, 75%… there is no real professional stylers for vBulletin… in the last 8 years, i never saw a single real professional style on that platform… because it is too badly coded. so i will go to another platform, i suppose Joomla, where there is a lot of places where to grab some real efficient styles.

that’s it.. you can comment.. rofl

Is VB Serious

sorry for posting it here, i was about to post over at vb about your post when it was removed and you got banned. but everything you said its true.I have already made up my mine to move 3 of my site to ipb..i l already retained my lic…I’m going to sell the other two that is expire on the 3.8 version.

wow man vb is way out of control

i’m building with Joomla today…

I have a website to build for the Sync-Swim club i’m the CEO of, and even if i built the whole Calendar enhancements package for that purpose only, i will switch to Joomla and use their forum and calendar extensions, because they are more secure and easier to integrate with the large collection of themes built commercially for Joomla.

so we will have a go with Joomla comparaisons.. lol

8 years after, i’ll write the story again…

The history wrote:

The PostNuke project was started in July 2001 and grew out of the frustration of four guys not being able to contribute to the development of another open source project. PostNuke was the first open source project to provide a sourceforge type free hosting service to third party developers we nicknamed the NOC (Network Operations Center).

We are again, a bunch of guys frustrated to not being able to contribute seriously to the development of a project. And it was decided in the light of the latest events inside vBulletin Solutions walls that we all had enough to wait for the clock to tick…

One song actually inspire me to continue my work, my way… « Brûle », from Sniper, a french speaking music group from France… here are the video and the lyrics, in french sorry… Sniper: Brûle … les paroles nexialys.net What it means is that if you want things to change, you have to vote, you have to act… i do.

In the next months, we will be hiding in the dark, developing a complete different engine that have nothing to do either will vBulletin, or IPB or anything like this… why? because i’m a developer and i don’t like being stalled waiting for a job call… I actually can not code, i’m still in post-operatory vacations, but i can discuss with people, i can write ideas and check over the shoulder of the guys who will highjack the whole internet to find the best solutions for our future clients.

The goal of the project, provide a complete solution for webmasters, multi-sites owners, as well as small groups and communities. no more details for now, we will have something serious after christmas!

For all the vBulletin clients of this site, you’re about 1500 subscribed members, you loose nothing. Everything that is available right now on the site is still available until our new product is released publically, and then we will offer something special for everyone.

As this site is driven by « lifetime » subscriptions, i don’t plan closing the site until vBulletin Solution stop supporting their actual 3.8.x version, as you’ll all be in need of the addons we’re releasing here. This was announced in the past, we still stick to that rule, and even if we decided to switch our back to vB, we are still supporting our stuff, and we continue releasing small addons from time to time.

I suppose that cover it all, some commercial announcements will be made here on due time.

new project, we write the goals:

0- we take a nude vB 3.8.4 and integrate all the existing tools to it
1- we drop a lot of things, like the products engine, the hooks, etc once we integrate all the possible addons on the market.
2- we take everything we’ve written about vBulletin 5.0 before
3- we mimic all the useful tools from WordPress, Joomla or others…
4- etc

i want to know right away who’s with me… 🙂

i have no money for this, i lost all possibilities of contract for the next months, but i am able to code and fast if i do not have to « imagine » a tool.

Accepting Donation of vBulletin Licenses

I don’t know how to say it without breaking the english language, but anyway…

In the last 2 days, i’ve read a lot of whiners posting their disagreement to the new vBulletin licenses and policies… and a lot of them decided to leave the vB market to switch to something different, like phpBB or Invision…

I have a large list of non-profit organisations willing to start a forum or a community, and they do not have any money to purchase a license. They usually wait for someone who is willing to donate some cash to do so…

But as i’ve read today that some guys are ready to abandon their vBulletin license to go elsewhere and as it is permitted to switch a license owner to another, i would like to ask if you guys would be ready to donate your licenses instead of making the pleasure to IB to see you vanish simply…

You would be listed as donator to these non-profit groups, as well as having the honnor to help social groups having a place on the web…

I hope to have your attention guys, you have a conscience, and i am proud to say that most of the vBulletin license holders have more human sense than others.

4.0 transition chasm with the calendar…

vBulletin Solutions™ plan to rework the calendar as part of the 4.x generation… not in 4.0, maybe not in 4.1 or 4.2, but they have a slot for it…

That may be the moment for this product to raise his hand over the 4.x generation right now and bring new life to the calendar inside vBulletin.

Having a complete integration between the calendar, the forum, the member albums, the blogs the cms, and even the project tools, is the biggest dream of any forum admin…

The End User:

Imagine putting a date for any photo entered in your album, and seeing a note about that photo in your member’s calendar. same if you enter a blog post, it will show in the timeline of your member profile…

Actually, checking in your own userCP to see the calendar, you would see all your blog, photos, projects and events, in a single place, tagged with the proper color, with previews on hover, etc… and if you activate it, your profile would also contain the same kind of element, a calendar with viewable events, entries, photos etc. a timeline in your profile, that would be the most advanced calendar you could see on the market.

And what to add to a Event Discussion, you could simply link one of your album to that event… it is really simple, when you create/edit an album, you simply enter the eventid in a field, and tada… when you go to that event discussion, your album is linked to it *(see « linked photos » in the event description)

Personal Events:

As for the blog and photos, you can create basic events called « personal », which are usually anniversaries, birthdays etc. If tagged as public, they may show in the list of birthdays in the calendar, if indicated as a birthday… there is a list of type of events that you can customize depending on your forum type.

The Forum:

Inserting an event in a specific forum, event related to a specific calendar, and viewable by permission, discussed by permission andwhere you can add attachments of any kind… millions of forum members would like to see that.

On the fly edition of the event status, like closed, sticked or moderated, like anyother thread of your forum… because it is a thread, linked to an event. If you have access to posting in that forum but do not have permission to post in the calendar, you see the restriction instead of being blanked after posting…

Ranged or Recurring events, how great with a forum, as you can decide to stick a recurring event, or close a thread when the ranged event is finished/passed… The discussions are still present in the forum display, but are considered featured on due time only, as it is already when reading the list of events on forumhome.

Subscribed threads are also subscribed events, so you receive a notice when your event are coming …

Social Groups, when you hit us…

someone use the SG? how about a list of events for that group, each event linked to a discussion. When you create a group, you also give permission or not to the members to add new events. as a group author, you always have that right by default IF usergroup permissions say so.

Adding events and a minimalist calendar to the SG would make it much more the Yahoo Groups now, and as you can put postponed events as well, it’s good to tease the members.

The Blogs:

The blogs already contain a specific calendar, but it is minimal… what would be to have a timeline the same way the actual calendar has, with some extras… you can post postponed events and make them show the day you wish… *(forgot to say, the threads related to events can do the same, by permission)…

A real timeline for your posts, and a display of « regular » blog posts and « blog events » which are not used for the same reason…

Open a RSVP ticket please:

Based on permissions, all events could have a RSVP ticket to fill, with details like the number of invited people, moment of arrival, approval, and custom fields you can add. When viewed as a thread, the RSVP would display below the firstpost where you read the event, based on permissions.

and with the CMS, what’s up…

I don’t know for you, but the CMS is the place where to show a minimal calendar, and have a block to list the recent events… we can also have a block of the latest anniversaries… anything is possible. And if you tag one of your personal event as an anniversary, it will list as an regular anniversary, with permissions.

« The Postponed Events » in Forum are great for the CMS, as you can post postponed events that will show on due time, even if you are not online.

This is a partial description of what are the new capabilities of the Calendar Integration Bundle pushed inside vB 4.x…

We need some discussions around this, requests and suggestions too… let’s start today!
