New Member Here :)

I feel I might introduce my self here. My name is Kate, I’m a newbie here, someone told me that i might find some good information here so… basically that’s why I’m here, and for any good advice i might get also… hope to have good time here

I’ve been hit, i’ve been hit… meeeeediiiiiic !!!

Yes that hurts…

a stroller for two on the left knee while opening the hatch of the caravan… yes, that’s heavy, and that’s surprising… no chance i could avoid it, no way… exactly when it count.

so for the next days, i’m unable to walk… and unable to sit for a long period. that mean i will focus on one project at a time, right now i have iTrader to add a feature for a good client… we will see if i can do more, but i don’t make any promise… 🙂

Statistics and Tendencies

This product is a complete statistics display engine, which can be used to replace some graved:
Site Life Status – vBulletin.org Forum
vbTrends – An Enhanced Statistics Box on Forum Home – vBulletin.org Forum

These two were overtaken by me, and were requested by many visitors here lately… They were not used for this engine as they are not following my protocol… but thanks for the inspiration!

The first goal was to add some informations on your « Site Statistics » block in the footer of the Forumhome, this one:

Here is the block without any product added:

nex_stats_tend_fh_0.jpg

Here is the simple version, adding details without changing the format:

nex_stats_tend_fh_1.jpg

in this version, when you hover the numbers, you see the whole stats!

And here is the Textual version, for the ones who do not like to hover words!

nex_stats_tend_fh_2.jpg

But there is more. Basically, this engine which require only one query to create the whole statistics, and one additional query if you display X new members, is also the same which create an entire statistics and tendencies page which is displayed like this:

nex_stats_tend_mainpage.jpg

the link to access this page is the title of the statistics block on forumhome… or misc.php?do=tendencies >> vbEnhancer.com – Statistics and Tendencies

The statistics for each day of the chart can be read by hovering it. if you hover the colors parts, you see their values, and if you hover the date, a complete description of the day is displayed.

You have some settings with this engine, to change the colors in the charts, and configure what is seen:

nex_stats_tend_admin_options.jpg

That’s about it for the features.

A note on the installation: This engine is using your existing site content to create the statistics display, and statistics can not be built with mist… You need a sitelife of at least 2 complete months to make it so, therefore the product file will verify this information and if your site is too young, the product will not install itself.

Some persons would say they want their stats anyway… too bad, performances and tendencies can not be evaluated with no content. Anyway, what would you do with these details, a 2 months old forum is not sellable, the stats are too tight to mean anything, and you can not determine anything based on a chart that have nothing to display.

Ok, and the usage… This engine is not a complete « google analytics » clone, it just display what already exists on your site. Posting and registrations rate is not very useful if you want to see what is popular and what not… but it’s a start. A more complete statistics engine will be released soon for more complex analysis and trafic evaluations.

So what can we see in these charts?… The days your members post the most, the % of real active members, as you can see if the newly registered are the ones to be active compared to the existing ones (if you have 10 active and 8 new registered, it means your existing members are not participating!).

That’s about it…

note: july 18th, 2009: version updated to 1.1.0, with the addition of the « New Subscriptions » display, and some esthetics changes. Now you can show the number of new subscriptions in the main page, giving a good idea of the members membership. This is a on/off switch.

note: july 22th, 2009: version updated to 1.2.0, with the complete transformation of the Tendencies calculation. We now use a complete new engine to calculate the tendencies for the next month, accurate and using the gray matter instead of my fingers. It requires a new file upload btw, you need to upload the file to the proper location and update the product… added permission per usergroup too… check the Options page, in the bottom!

note: august 1st 2009, no version change, corrected the « divide by zero » problem… again!

note: august 4th, version changed to 1.2.1, just a detail, added the proper code to fetch usergroup markup for « Latest X New Members » … so now they show with their usergroup.

note: august 20th, 2009, added a « class_for_43.zip » archive in the distro to fix some incompatibility with older versions of PHP. as on this site we’re using only the latest PHP version to avoid collision of genres, i’m providing an « obsolete » version that will help those who are hosted on a server older than PHP 5.1… simply upload the folder the same way you do with the original code, it will replace the file « nex_stats_tend_classes.php ».

note: october 8th, 2009… after many tries to display the date properly for international languages, i think i have it… 🙂 this is a fix, so no version update. JUST import the product again, overwriting the actual installation.

note: lundi 19 octobre 2009, ajout du fichier langue française de la part de vBulletin-Ressources

after a lot of considerations, vbSetup is now our official friend !

This may look strange, but after a lot of discussions with others, a ton of details evaluated and some tests made, it was decided that vbEnhancer.com will cease providing outsiders resources and forums to give the place to vBulletin SEO Setup.

in the last days i added a forumlink to vBSetup, which is now the only place where i think it worth having a large vBulletin support community. I left vB.org because i thought it was in decay, and still, Brandon with vBSetup was able to proove that he was the man of the situation… that’s good to know if you want my opinion…

so if you need support on the day to day life of vBulletin, vBulletin SEO Setup is the place where to go now. vbEnhancer.com will resume its activities around my work, providing free and less free addons and products for vBulletin.

With Brandon and his team in the portrait, i’m sure you will be better served and you will have a funnier community there. Good Luck Brandon!

Redesign of the Statistics and Tendencies logic…

Ok, i was to release that stuff yesterday, but as soon as i finished the work, i thought of a change in the Crawlers Bundle package, and decided it would be a large benefit to make the change in the Stats and Tend right away with it… it’s not long, but instead of releasing a version 1 and a version 2 the same week, i ask you to wait like 3 days…

the new crawlers engine will make daily statistics on the fly, with the ability to track whick topic was read by crawler X or Y… this is way better than just counting the number of hits, isn’t it?

like Kevinl indicated, you will not have anymore need to have Google Analytics on your site… this engine will track all humans and crawlers all the time, seemlessly. you have two engines that work the same, the crawlers tracker, and the humans tracker.

guests will be tracked by IP, members by their id, and trackers by their name… as we do not need to track which thread a member reply to (already in the db), it’s easy to build statistics on this as well.

some people would say that it is pointless as Google Analytics can do it… nope… sorry, but when you let others do your work, you are not sure of the results. Google Analytics is not tracking each actions on a site, they track visits made via their service… they are not tracking other crawlers, neither the access to private forums etc. there is a lot of things Analytics can not do.. it can not evaluate which forum is popular, which topic is interesting for your visitors etc… on a daily basis.

some others would say that it will overload the server by making an additional query each page loaded… each of the queries my engine do takes about 0.00001 seconds to execute, and less than 2k of ram total… because the engine is well coded.

for the ones who already have the old Crawlers bundle on their site, the upgrade is taking care of the transition, that’s the part which took the most of my day coding… as it was impossible to track the inthread or the daily stats, the evaluation of the data is normalized to give a logical result… so the stats will have a logical count, instead of a burst (do not ask me to explain, it’s complicated and i’m bad in maths!).

hum, someone told me to name that new engine as « Nexia’s Analytics »… but i hate to exploit the success of someone in my advantage… :grin_Confused:

i may just name it « Nexia’s Statistics and Tendencies » as planned… rofl

oh, btw, one thing Google Analytics is unable to provide: tendencies for the next month… 😉

Making Credits/Points into Cash

Ok, right now with my points engine you can buy points and money goes from the clients paypal into the companys to « back up » the points, now i am working on making users be able to make their points back into cash (buisness -> to client) the problem is i can’t think of the logic with paypal? if you have any ideas with this please say

Time Restriction

Hi there!

Okay, this sound weird, but I do need something that automatically closes and opens my v3 arcade area. I would need a file, which I could add to a vb cronjob for example.

There is a option to close and open the arcade.
Now what I want to do is, to set a specific time for open and for close, like the arcade is open from 17.30 PM to 21.00 PM. Thats all.

I´d appreciate any help!
Thanks!

Maybe someone could create a vB Time Restriction addon, which could restrict specific vb areas by time using file-indication for example. Close /arcade.php at xTime and open at xTime. Any files. Dunno whether this is possible.

Webalizer grabber…

Webalizer PHP – serving up secure and XHTML/CSS valid Webalizer statistics

this tool grab webalizer’s index.html content and create new stats with it… this is the only thing we can have to receive server-side information.

as i’m playing with forum stats right now, i think i’ll need that script to work inside vbulletin so we can have these stats stored somewhere…

the biggest problem is that we need the location of the webalizer stats to make it work — i tested it on this server and it is not even locating the file… so go figure… most webmasters have no idea how to locate their webalizer, so what can we do?

i’ll see what i can find… if you have ideas, let’s talk.. lol
