something remembers me of real life…

At first, the site had the Freebies available even for guests, so anybody was able to download without registering/loging-in…

but this caused a little problem. Some web crawlers are taking a real fun downloading the attachments multiple times, for no reasons… and they persist… it loads the server a lot in no time, it’s like spam in the serverside.

i can not afford to see my host bandwidth/usage overused only because of a clash in attachment downloads, so the simpliest solution i could apply is to force people to be logged-in to download.

This is not a real problem right now as there is not much people visiting the site… but there is more crawlers visiting the site than guests, so i can not take a chance.

sorry for the ones willing to have no account, this is my solution.

This small product require a file edit of the file « showthread.php »… really small edit, but needed if you want to display the count.

Ever got tired of all these threadlists without any thread in a closed forum?

See, no possibility to post, and still, the empty list of threads… all this because if you are in a sub-forum that you do not want to transform into a category, you have to set the Open state to off… and it leave the space for threads,… in case!

this little product file is a simple if/then statement in the end of forumdisplay that will simply make that block deactivated when in that specific situation.

no template edit, just a product import…

there is more and more addons for the forumhome right now, but they all are craply coded, take too much place and are just adding details instead of new elements.

i have that parenting site that needs a lot of details in the front page, but i want to avoid any portal, which make forumhome bloat anyway. i’m not showing the forums in forumhome, i transform it into a real portal… so why not making a commercial package of all the possible things, in multiple blocks, selecting a structure we like… 😉

anyway, i know that the guys at Jelsofts are planing their CMS to be just that, blocks we can move anywhere…. i just don’t want to wait, i have ideas… 🙂

she is ALWAYS putting so much useless things on her engines (ok, i now own all of her old stuff)… but her travel portal could easily be redefined into the MTF…

i’m not into a fight to beat everybody, but it’s easy to find inspiration when we look at what we have on the market or what’s going to be… 🙂

Here is a screenshot of a system i’m actually coding for vbE… which will be great for any website having a support system or online chat…

There is not much involved in this system, but as my plan is to re-edit the vbPager engine from Mo, the plan will be to have the first Staff/Online Support with this. (think of merging an online chat with this engine!)

In the next hours i’ll be finishing the setup of this engine, which is not complicated, because there is just some If/Then statements…

Why i post this right now is to let members make suggestions and requests before i release the version… 🙂

The company is headquartered at Quebec city, GMT -5, and usually, we drive our business on official business hours, like 9 to 5… so here is the schedule:

Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm, GMT -5 …

and usually, i’m online on the site when at work, so if i’m not online, if it’s not in business hours, please consider waiting for an answer the next open day.

This site is becoming more and more popular each day. Just in the last 48 hours, it received more than 260 visitors which gave us 87 new members. That’s not a shock, but with no advertising at all, this is good.

In the next days, i’ll be building our advertisement network, and the only way to advertise on this site will be to have a signature…

What i mean is that if you subscribe to have a signature, you’ll have the right to use it to display your banner *(default 468×60) and 2 lines of text/links…Posting or not, you’ll be seen, because your signature will rotate after first post of each threads.
